Outpatient Services
Diagnostic Testing
Fauquier Health offers a wide variety of diagnostic services on an outpatient basis. These include EEG, EKG and EMG, as well as endoscopy, echo vascular studies and pre-operative testing. Complete laboratory and imaging services are also available.
Outpatient Surgery and Treatment
The Outpatient Special Procedures Department offers the latest advances in medical and surgical "same day" procedures, including lithotripsy for patients with kidney stones. In addition to the traditional outpatient surgeries, the Outpatient Department offers interventional radiology services. This service features trained radiologists who perform procedures such as uterine and artery embolization less invasively than traditional surgery, usually under local anesthesia.
The Outpatient Department also provides numerous non-surgical services including chemotherapy and endoscopy.
Infusion Services
Until recently, patients had to drive to Northern Virginia to receive outpatient infusion treatments. Fauquier Hospital is pleased to be able to provide outpatient chemotherapy services to members of the community with cancer diagnoses. As medical technology has progressed, so have the capabilities of infusion services. Fauquier Hospital offers chemotherapy and other infusion services such as fluids for hydration, blood transfusions and IV antibiotics.
Blood Draw Hours
Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm in the Outpatient Special Procedures Blood Draw Room. In off hours, patients can go to the Main Lab on the Lower Level. Although we are happy to serve you at any time, you should expect a longer wait when arriving during the off hours.
Imaging Services
In addition to traditional x-ray services,
Fauquier Hospital offers the latest in imaging services, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), nuclear medicine and interventional radiology services. Fauquier Hospital is also one of only a handful of hospitals in the Northern Virginia area with stereotactic breast biopsy capabilities. This advance in medicine allows physicians to biopsy a breast lump non-surgically. We also offer bone densitometry for the diagnosis of osteoporosis.
Laboratory Services
Of the thousands of tests referred to Fauquier Hospital Laboratory every year, over 95% are performed in the hospital using state-of-the-art clinical equipment and computer automation.
The remaining tests are performed by a network of regional and national reference laboratories that are also fully accredited, including Piedmont Medical Laboratory in Winchester, VA, Quest Diagnostics, Nichols Institute in Chantilly, VA and the Virginia State Department of Health Laboratory in Richmond, VA. Blood products are provided by the American Red Cross in Norfolk, VA.
Fauquier Hospital also serves as a collection site for paternity testing and federally mandated Department of Transportation and non-Department of Transportation urine drug testing.
The Pathologists and Medical Director are board certified in clinical and anatomic pathology. The Medical Technologists performing the testing are all certified by national credentialing agencies. The hospital laboratory is accredited with distinction by the College of American Pathologists.
